Poultry Litter Management

Litter Management for Laying Pullets and Broilers is virtually identical.
  1. Start with a clean dry house
  2. Spread Eco Animal Bedding corrugated cardboard or shredded paper at a rate of 3½ bales per 93 square metres.
  3. Shake out thoroughly and spread evenly to a depth of four to five centimetres.

  4. Broilers:
    Brood at 90° - 92°F (32° - 33°C)
    Thereafter, recommended temperatures are:
    First Week: 88° - 90°F (31° - 32°C)
    Second Week: 82° - 85°F (28° - 29°C)
    Third Week: 78° - 80°F (26° - 27°C)
    Fourth Week: 70° - 72°F (21° - 22°C)

    Pullets:
    Brood at 88°F (31°C)
    After three days, reduce by 1°F
    Thereafter, daily to 70°F (21°C)
    Hold at 70°F (21°C) to the end of crop

  5. Transporting Baby African Grays Transporting Baby African Grays
    Paper may crust between 7-14 days. This must not be disturbed as it will break up naturally between 20-28 days.
  6. The litter will continue to improve to a fine, warm, fibrous litter.
  7. No replenishment is necessary except in the event of a flooding drinker. If serious, sodden cardboard or paper should be removed and replaced. If the litter is only damp it will be sufficient to just give a top dressing of cardboard or paper.
  8. The litter will work down to the floor of the house which may be cleared in the normal way.

Parrots & Other Birds

This is an ideal product to use in the base of your bird cages and nesting boxes. The clean up is fast and easy and a little goes a long way. You only need remove the soiled chips and top up with a few clean chips as required.
