How To Use

Eco Animal Bedding is very simple to use. It has been designed to make mucking out animal, poultry and game maintenance easier and cleaner.

Initial Setup

For the best result, we suggest completely mucking out the stable and clearing away any existing straw and shavings. Cover the stable floor and spread to make an even, dense bed and bank up the sides. One 20kg bale of Eco Animal Bedding is comparable in volume to an average bale of shavings. The initial setup would need 3 to 4 bales, depending on the size of your stable/area. Preparing a good 'first' bed will require less topping up later so try not to skimp on the initial setup. When skipping out, throw the muck up against the side walls using a shavings fork. The muck and bedding will then separate, allowing for easy disposal of manure and wet soiled chips.

Step 1Step 1 Start with a completely clean stable.
Step 2Step 2 Shake product out of packaging.
Step 3Step 3 Using our ecoRAKE, distribute product evenly over stable floor, banking up the sides.
Step 4Step 4 Ensure a dense bed, approximately four to five bales in a 12ft x 12ft concrete based floor.

To Remove Wet Bedding

Scrape away the surface of the bed to reveal the wet beneath. To establish a dry top, remove the bottom wet layer, then top up with fresh Eco Animal Bedding.

Topping Up

To freshen up your stable, simply aerate and turn the bed by tossing it about with a fork on a regular basis.

Maintenance

maintenance Simple maintenance ensures a longer lasting bedding

Regularly sweep out the stable by scraping all the bedding up against the sides and sweeping away all the small particles that accumulate, such as hay, chaff, food or crushed waste, from the stable floor. By maintaining a clean and fresh bed, Eco Animal Bedding will last longer and the stable will accumulate less dust and dirt.

The amount of Eco Animal Bedding used will depend on several factors:

For the Smaller Critters

Simply shake out the contents of Eco Animal Bedding into the bottom of the animal or birds' hutch, cage, pen or tank to form a well covered base. Regularly remove wet and soiled chips, turn over existing bedding to aerate, then top up with fresh product as required.

Rats, mice, hamsters and gerbils, actually like to make tunnels in it. Just add ceramic tubes and/or boxes to support their tunnel networks.
