Eco Animal Bedding is not just for animal bedding. Here are a few other applications for our cardboard and paper products.

Eco Animal Bedding corrugated cardboard chips, sticks or shredded paper can be utilised as an effective packing filler, an environmentally friendly alternative to polystyrene chips.

Soil Fertiliser / Compost

Recent surveys show that a major concern to the equestrian industry is the disposal of the used bedding. In today’s world of reduce, reuse, recycle, Eco Animal Bedding can be applied direct to land and gardens as an excellent soil fertiliser.

When composting, use Eco Animal Bedding in a formula of one part dry to one and a half parts wet, (wet being food scraps, vegetable and fruit peels, or plant waste). Over time, it becomes an excellent source of nutrients and minerals to fertilise your garden and potted plants.

You can control the moisture level in your compost bin by adding handfuls of absorbent material such as Eco Animal Bedding's corrugated cardboard chips or shredded paper and turning your mix regularly.

Eco Animal Bedding biodegrades much faster than straw, hay or wood shavings.

Mulch

Compost and manure from common domestic farm animals (i.e. horses, cows, pigs, chickens) are two of the best materials to use as a mulch but many of us shy away from this due to the smell. Combine used Eco Animal Bedding with compost, sticks, bark, grass and leaves and apply directly to the soil surface of your garden as a mulch. When making your own mulch, remember to treat it like compost and ensure it's not too fresh before using it.

Weed Mat

When initially preparing your garden beds, a thick layer of Eco Animal Bedding cardboard or paper can be laid down prior to the soil. This will not only act as a weed deterrent but will also help to retain moisture down at the root level.

Worm Farming

All worm farms need a base of cardboard or paper for the bedding area and a cover to help their environment stay dark and moist. Eco Animal Bedding cardboard or paper is an ideal base and blanket. If everyone began worm farming, we could reduce our compostable waste by one tonne per person per year.

Dog Breeding

Eco Animal Bedding's shredded paper forms a nice, soft, springy bed, perfect for whelping boxes.

Pet Shops

Eco Animal Bedding is available in 20kg bales making it economical for the pet shop industry where paper is used and disposed of on a daily basis.
